I am confused, the QS8's are possibly the most easy to place speaker in the world. Because of the rear ports, the M2 cannot be wall mounted and so needs to either be on a stand or on a shelf(which is highly not recommended). The QS8 can be placed honestly anywhere along the side walls and will sound amazing because of its ability to shoot sound in all directions. It is also made to be wall mounted. A stand should only be used if there is no wall space, only windows. So I am quite confuse how an M2 will be less prone to attack from children than a wall mounted QS8

>>I was contemplating the M2's as well and was curious as to their match with the M60's.

M2s match REALLY well with M60s. When I got my M60s I did a fair amount of A/B comparison between the M60s and the M2s I already owned. Other than the bass the main difference I noticed was that some female vocals (Diana Krall for example) sounded a bit better/crisper on the m2s. Essentially no difference otherwise -- closer than any of my other Axioms (VP100, QS8).

I haven't played with using the QS8s as mains for more than ~30 seconds but I doubt they could match any better than the M2s. The big advantage of the QS8s is that diffuse surround effect, which I have to admit gives a readically different experience from the M2s. I'm still not sure which I like better although there is no question the QSs do a much better job of making your room sound like a large movie theater.

M2s and QS8s are both terrific surrounds although they do sound totally different -- not in terms of frequency response just point vs. diffuse sound.

Note that Alan has a very informative discussion of speaker placement, including the monopole vs multipole surround question, in the new newsletter.
