Well, You people are going to be the ruin of me!
After my great find earlier in the week on the Denon 2900, I just could not help myself.
Had to go ahead and finish the job.
Went out today and brought home the new Yamaha 2500.
And just because I couldn't leave well enough alone, I decided that a DVD-C750 would be a nice addition as well.
So, by sometime tomorrow afternoon, I will either be in Audio and Video bliss, or I will have been beaten to death with big, oddly-shaped pieces of styrofoam and over-sized, heavy cardboard boxes by my Sweetheart.
Or maybe both!
I'll post when all is up and running!

Plan right now is for the 2900 for serious single disc listening via the analog inputs since everyone speaks so highly of the Dacs in that, and for DVD, and the 750 for multi disc play, via the digital inputs, and non critical DVD playback when I want to put in several DVDs and skip around from disc to disc.
I know, I know, it sounds stupid to have both, and one may end up leaving, but the 2900 was just too stupid a price to pass up, and the 750 has gotten a couple of really amazing reviews (from the same people that ended up pointing me towards Axioms)that I figured I could not go wrong for the $$$.

Dude,
If I had done that, I would be concerned about the point of entrance of some seriously folded cardboard. It sounds like you have some nice toys to play with.

Yeah, well if the living room looks like it did for most of last weekend when the sweetheart gets home from work today, I may be bringing them over to one of your places to play with! ;-)
So I've gotta get my but in gear and get this stuff hooked up and running!

Just make sure to do a comparison because my Denon 2910 passing a digital signal is waaayyyyy better than my previous JVC DVD player. And do not get me started on the lousy quality of the Samsung I tried for a week. It is not all 1's and 0's like I thought. These Denon players produce sound that is so much better than other companies even by the digital outputs.

Well, I have not done any comparison on the digital vs analog outputs on the Denon, but the analog is simply astounding.
If I run it out of the Digital coax, am I not bypassing the DACs in the Denon and depending solely on the DACs in the Yamaha?
I (as I always seem to do) have made it more complicated than I should have, by buying the Yamaha DVD-C750 at the same time.
Intention is to use the Yam 750, via the Digital outputs & inputs, for multi disc listening, and to just use the Denon for analog, single disc listening & serios DVD watching.
From the reading that I have done, I (think!)am pretty sure that the DACs and bass mngt in the Denon are better than what is in the Yam, and they are certainly better than what is in the Yam for 6 ch. Audio and DVD-A.
But for $260 I could not pass up the Yamaha 750, and through the digital inputs it is light years beyond my old Yamaha DC-765.

You are correct. Using the optical/coax will bypass the 2900 DACs and you will be using the receiver's DACs. That's one of the reasons I chose the Denon 3803. It uses the SHARC processor and has excellent DACs.

Do you have to change the settings in the receiver when you switch from optical to 6 channel analog or does it read your mind?
