Just get ready for the "holy *&^%&% these things are big" surprise. They are exactly the size Axiom says but I was still expecting something about half as big.
You might want to book the time off work now rather than having to come up with a lame "cough cough I'm sick" story when the boxes arrive.

You know, I must have used a tape measure a dozen times in an effort to visualize the size of the speakers. We'll see when they come in if I have that "holy *&^%&% these things are big" surprise.
Digowon - Congrats on the purchase. Please be sure and tell us all about them when they're setup. Also, you could start by giving us the deals on the current/future setup?

You're obviously more diligent than me. I held my hand an estimated 37" off the ground, thought "ok, they'll be about that big" and that was the end of it

Used to be me too... read the posts - go look dreamily at the Epic 80... LOL Google Denon and Yamahaa equipment, search for speaker reviews, get over the Fluance hype...
I'm also waiting on an RX-V1500 receiver. I took a chance on an on-line dealer - absoluteaudiovideo.com - who states that they will stand behind the oringinal Mfg warranty. A little nervous - but then again I recently purchased a digitally re-mastered copy of a late 70's fusion band called GO. Great band featuring - Stomu Yamashta, Steve Winwood, Al DiMeola and Mike Shrieve. The CD came from St. Petersgurgh Russia. It arrived last week and is bringing back a lot of memories from the good 'ol days. Took 2 weeks and I was beginning to get nervous about my credit card # being ripped off, but - given the product - I figured it must be legit. I'm still waiting on George Duke '3 Originals' that I ordered from CD101 in the UK. That one's from way back in George Duke's Zappa days, and features most of the 'Overnight Sensation' band.
For now - other components are a run of the mill Samsung DVD player, a JVC 37" TV, and a VCR. For now, they'll stand in the 15x14 family room. Eventually(hopefully by end of summer) - I'll have refinished the basement and purchased a VP150, and a pair of QS8's.

Sounds like your dreams are coming true.
Hey, can I ask where you got the Go CD ? My LPs are long gone (got broken a couple of moves ago) so I didn't think I would ever hear Go again.

Good luck. I can't vouch for the mastering quality - it sounds good to me on the Bose car stereo - the best system I've got access to.
I'd forgotten how great this band was. I like Go a bit better than Gotoo...
A real find would be Alphonso Johnson 'Yesterdays Dreams'. Theres a compilation CD out there, but not the complete tunes from the original album. I guess I'm stuck with the eventual purchase of the high end LP preservation kit and a new turntable to use for LP conversion to CD.
I've got PC didgital studio w/Cubase VST32 and Wavelab 3.0. It's a hobby, that - sadly - has been neglected for too long. Anyway - I've always planned on recording my old LP's to CD - and cleaning up the pops and clicks on the way.

To add to this semi hijack. On the news a week or so ago, they actually had a "Liger" (1/2 lion 1/2 tiger). It was HUGE.

i actually saw the 'liger' on TV also. i couldnt help but laugh. and you are right, the dang thing was enormous.. the trainer was just walking around with him like it was no big deal. i think they said it weighed 900 pounds, and could reach up to 12 feet in the air when up on its hind quarters.
i think i would have used a little more caution than that trainer was..

I saw an documentary about ligers on Animal planet or Discovery channel,, and if I remember correctly Sigfrid and Roy were showing one of their ligers. On the documentary they explain why ligers are huge, it's because of "genomic imprinting" or something like that. Cant remember precisely what it‘s but it goes something like this: … in lions, genes contributed by the father promote size and genes from the female inhibit growth .When you do a lion/tiger hybrid, female tiger genes doesn’t inhibit growth, so that’s why you’ll end up with a hybrid that is larger than both parent species.
