I was wondering if Axiom had pics of their manufacturing plant, and speakers cut in half. I would like to see some building pics. I was surfing through Paradigm's site, and they had a few pics like this. Specificaly, I would like to see th m80's.

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick,

Unlike B&W, we don't saw our speakers in half. I'll check but I don't think there are any photos other than casual shots around the factory.

I just retured from Dwight, where the factory is, and it is very beautiful up there. I had to stop my car on a winding road through the woods to let a herd(?) of deer cross the road and pick their way through the drifts on either side.

I just wanted to see how the cabinets are built. How are the separated internally. Not a big deal just curious and don't want to take them apart.

Thanks Alan, I thought it would be nice to see where and how Axioms are built.

Thanks,

Rick

Well, the midranges each have their own little cabinets, each midrange its own one. otherwise the rest of the cabinet is pretty much open. 2 internal bracings one between the bottom tweet and mid and one between the 2 woofers and stuffing in each midrange cabinet and a bunch inside the cabinet down by the woofers. That pretty much explains it. I know this because i am the kind of person that when i buy something i like to see what i paid for. ive had all my gear open. But i wouldnt reccomend doing that for someone who doesnt know what the heck theyre doing. And alan. FYI some of the screws on my M80's appear to be starting to rust! there are 2 types theres ones with little ridges on the head of the screw and ones that are smooth. The riged ones appear to be starting to rust. So i would reccomend that you only use the smooth headed screws on your speakers from now on. But, being as i am in hawaii they might be affected more. But not as a bad thing. These things happen we learn from them :-D or maybe i am just too dog gone picky about my audio. what can i say. The speakers are my babies!

Hello Haoleb
I noticed the same thing. I marked each screw and its position since in my case the two screw types appear to have different threading pitch.

Can someone post some pics of the screws they are referring to?
I'm curious to see which screws are not painted like the hex screws for the drivers.

I didnt even notice it until just the other day when i was sitting next to one and i noticed some brown on the screw. Upon furthur inspection i noticed some screws were diff. Oh well. they arent really rusting too much. and you cant really tell the diff between the screws unless you look at em. And each driver has all the same type screws. Not like one notched and one smooth on the same tweet u know. but hey. i still love my axioms! even if they had the grab bag screw selection lol.

Thanks Haoleb, that keeps me from taking them apart to look. I probably will eventually, I like to look at what I paid for to. These are the first set of home speakers I've ever bought and I'm still a little tentative about taking them apart.

Thanks again,

Rick
