Hey guys...I had an Axiom setup in mind and was wondering if it would sound decent (for movies mainly...and some country for my mom). Keeping in mind I'm hanging the fronts and read/surrounds from the ceiling (I didn't want 15" of speakers above my head). For the fronts I plan on using the M3ti's followed by 4 QS4's for the rear surround and sides. And the center I plan on getting the VP100 with the EP175 for the sub. How should this sound given the living room is like 30x30. Also, would the bracket that Axiom has be ideal for hanging their speakers from the ceiling?

I'm trying to visualize a 30X30 room with speakers hanging from the ceiling-interesting concept!

I don't know "where" in the space, and what the orientation of the listening area would be, but I do know that that's one heck of a lot of total area to fill with smallish speakers like the M3s and QS4s! I used M3s in a 13 by 28 room with no problem as long as I remained within about eight feet from the speakers, but, in my new room of 16x27, the M3s were just too small and really sounded strained. A 30X30 room is really pushing what a set of M3s could handle, especially if there is a 15 foot ceiling height!!! So, unless you are considering pushing the whole system into a smaller corner of the room with some kind of sound containment, it sounds like you are firmly in "Floor Standing" territory with that sized room!

As far as advice on brackets...Help!..Anybody?...

Can you give us a little more information of exactly what you have and what you have in mind? This could really be a fun project!!

Yeah...I know it's hard to visualize...what I'll do tomorrow is make a rough drawing of the room....The room is open to the kitchen...but still the living room is quite big... 30x30 I'm guessing...let me make a sketch and put in the actual deminsions....now this is only for my mom and dad..mind you...so they really don't need the 4k system...or 2k (now) ..but they watch stuff to match so..axiom makes good speakers and their dark cherry fits in with the rest of the room. Thanks for the reply though...

I have a 30 x 30 room with m60's vp150 ep350 and 4-qs8's and it works fine. I would be a little concerned about using the smaller speakers. Are you really planning on using the entire space for movies? Also, the sub would be ok, but you might find it a bit small for that room. I'm actually considering getting another ep350 for my space.

I have a 6.1 system and hang my rear speaker from the ceiling using Axiom's FMB. Check out the link in my sig. Keep in mind, this is my basement and the ceilings are only 6'6".

Okay guys...I've made a diagram of the room and the setup I'm planning on installing. The actual size of the room is 21x17 ...not 30x30.. hehe ...and the distance from TV and decent seating is 12.5'.

OK then, that's not quite as rough a task for M3s to handle as 30x30, but(depending on the actual celing height)it still may be in floor-stander territory for the fronts, especially considering, also, the distance from the fronts to the average listening seat. I can't comment on the four rears as I'm not familiar with them(I use two M3s in back, and in my 16x27 room they work fine)

Another thought; in order to do bookshelf speakers justice, speaker stands are strongly recommended, and that adds more to the cost. Many people figure that when you add stands to speakers, the cost gets a bit closer to floor-standing range, so...

Another consideration is what type of sound your parents are most comfortable with, and since the main speakers will set the tone(quite literally)of the entire system, these are probably the most important speakers you'll aquire and should, of course, receive the most care and attention in their selection.

Something you probably already understand about Axiom speakers-Generally:

If their listening is more on the "casual" side, then the M3 M40 or M50 would do great on both movies and music and won't be irritating to the ears even on the worst recorded material.
The M2 M22 M60 and M80 would be used for more critical listening where accuracy is most appreciated, and a few poorly recorded notes can be tolerated.
