True story: I used to work as a shipper/receiver for a wholesaler... housewares, crappy tools, soft goods (blankets, towels, etc)... I got a packing slip on my desk... twenty-four 52-pc socket sets, thirty-six queen size comforters, ninety-six trivets...
Trivets? What the hell is a trivet? Found the other shipper/receiver...
"Kev?"
'Yeah...?'
"What's a trivet?"
'Those things you put hot pots on'
"Like a potholder?"
'No, you hold a hot pot with those, thus the name...'
"Uh, like those ceramic things?"
'No, they're woven... never mind, I'll get them...'
You don't even want to know how completely useless I was when it came to towels... bath towel, bath sheet, hand, face, facecloth, washcloth, dish... made of terry, cotton, jacquard... the mind reels. Towels fall into two catagories for me - house and shop - and two sizes - big enough for me after a shower and not.

funny...? we still find you that way about stereo stuff..
ah, come on man... you left the door wide open for that!!!
i crack myself up...
and i agree with you on the towels. we have inside towels and outside towels. and regular size, and john size. i swear, shannon found me a HUGE beach towel that weighs like 8 pounds.. you could almost use it as a comforter for a king size bed.

Damn i've got so much catching up to do on the boards, but I didn't think i could let this one die. It just reminded me of a joke that was played on a very gullible friend of mine. When he was a rookie, the guys on his hockey team told him to go upstairs to the canteen and ask for a "dikfer".
Sure enough he's upstairs in a minute quite confused, asking the lady working the canteen "what's a dikfer"???
"Chickens don't clap."

That reminds me of a story my co-worker told me. He was on a job installing telephone cabling in a government building and asked a rookie to go out to the truck and get him another box of dialtones.
They guy actually went and then called him a few minutes later saying he couldn't find any.

Same place of business, we had a high school kid in on weekends that would cover for one of us or the other or work with both of us when we needed an extra back.
Had him convinced calling him "feltch" (do NOT Google this!) was just another way of saying manual labourer.
