I upgraded M60ti's to 80's. Axiom shipped same day. Sent prepaid labels for 60's. Gave 5% discount.

I unpacked and set up 80's next to 60's.. Used dual banana plugs to easily move connections. Speakers are 12 feet apart and listening position is 10 feet from center.

Reset channel level to 0 and set myself down to listen.

At -20 on the master volume, pink noise was 2 dB louder than 60's.

I played Kenny G to listen to the mids and highs and Kenny Loggins (Danger Zone) for the lows. Back and forth repeating sound tracks and watch timer to listen to particular sections.

I think the 80's are more detailed than the 60's. Only slighly louder than the 60's still at -20. Smoother.

Plenty of bass with both speakers at that level.

-15 volume - WOW, very smooth blend of high to low range. I don't think the highs are harsh but again more detailed.

I now understand about not needing a sub for music. Serious musical bass out of the these woofers.

-10 volume. No strain in either speaker. Just seem like 80's thrive on the power. 60's a little laid back in comparison.

I swear I hear voicing in Danger Zone that I've never heard before.

That's all I had time for today. I packed up the 60's for FEDEX pick-up tomorrrow.

I am not knocking the 60's by any means. I enjoyed them for a month and would be happy to keep them for another HT setup if I had the funds.

I wonder now what the 80'd will sound like driven by an Outlaw, Rotel, Emotiva or the like.

Doug, good to hear how the M80s suit you. Also interesting that you were able to confirm the 2dB greater sensitivity for the M80 which Axiom shows in its specs. This means that at any given loudness level the M80 will be using only about 2/3rds the power that the M60 was using, so your 3805 should be even more adequate than before. Enjoy.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

bug: one other aspect to consider is that the 80's are 4 ohm speakers and the 60's are 8 ohm speakers. Same volume setting could account for the difference in "loudness."

Just a thought.
