I read a few reviews for all 3 bookshelf speakers offered by Axiom and they all seem pretty nice. Seems one reviewer from SoundStage likes the smaller of the 3 (M2i) saying that the midrange was untouchable by the others...but I don't know. I like the bigger of the 3 the M22ti (I believe) though. I listen to music more than anything so should I go with the the least expensive bookshelves as the review states? My living room is only 14'6" by 12'6" by 9'.

Any suggestions guys? Thanks.

Blackie, welcome. I don't believe that the review really said that the M2 mids were better than the M22's. If you're planning to use the speakers without a sub, the M22s would be a better choice and have good response with room reinforcement to below 50Hz. The M2s plus an inexpensive sub would be an excellent choice for a small room.

Sorry about that. I should have mentioned that I would be using a subwoofer. I really wish Axiom had an outlet store so that I can hear the difference. Oh well, can't win them all I guess. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have owned the M22s for two years now and I feel the midrange in these speakers is nothing short of amazing. I cannot comment on the M2 or M3 as I have never heard these models. The factory outlet is a great way to save 10% on whichever model you choose. Welcome to the board!

My room is almost exactly the same size (14.5 by 12.5 by 8). I use the 22's. I find them extremely well suited for the space. I used the FO and, although the 3 week wait was excruciating, it was worth it in the end.

Without a sub, the M2s are just a bit too thin in the bass unless you are listening to exclusively jazz & small-group classical (solo instruments, quartets etc..). M3 or M22 both seem to have enough bass response to stand alone although M3 will probably be more satisfying if you have a lot of pop/rock music on the agenda.

M2s with a good sub really do sound good, and the only thing you give up is the ability to play loudly. M2s in your room would be perfect for "comfortable" listening but might not be able to fill the room with really loud music if that's what you want some times. Either M22 or M3 would be more than capable of filling the room -- never tried matching M3s with a sub but I imagine the M22 would be easier to match because the bass response is smoother.

If you let us know what city you are in there might be someone nearby who would be happy to let you hear their speakers... or you can look in the "hearing things" forum for a list of people. Posting usually works a bit better.
