Hey guys! I just ordered a 7300 to replace my Denon 3802. Anybody have this set-up? Or can anybody just comfort me by telling me this is going to rock? It will be pushing M60s, VP 150 and a pair of QS8s.

I just got my 7300....sent back a 2005 to get the upconversion on the 7300.

I am still waiting for my speakers though.

As Ford says, it will definitely rock. Check out the measurements performed on the 7300 by Sound and Vision.

It's nice when a receiver easily bests the specs listed.
Have fun.

Tarun....how did you like the 2005? Most of us have had little to no experience with the digital path AVRs.

You just bought the 800 pound gorilla of receivers. Yes it will rock. I have a lowly 630 and can't imagine ever needing more power

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'll give a report once I get the 800lb (almost actual weight) guerilla wired-up.

I thought I also would take this chance to emphasize how flipping incredible Axiom's customer service is. My wife managed to slightly harm one of my darling M60s, and Axiom took care of me, no questions (or credit card info) needed. Unfortunately, they couldn’t offer me any help with my wife. Still, like their speakers, they rock. --Andy

One thing craigsub mentioned in another thread that I had neglected to mention. The 7300 is 20.5" deep, so plan accordingly. I had to rearrange my stand to accommodate the beast. Well worth the trouble, but those considering the HK should know about this beforehand.

Hi!
Gorgeous!Not a single problem driving M80 @ insane volumes!
Amazing video capabilities!Superb bass management!
Amazing receiver! The only problem is the size, I had to put it on top of my rack.It is also very heavy.
Enjoy it!

I’ve been considering upgrading from the 7200 to the 7300 for the video processing. So I’m pretty curious how that shakes out. It’d be excellent if one of you guys had a good DVD player that you could compare its processor to the 7300’s.

Dang! Why didn't someone tell me how big the 7300 was? J/K. If the 7300 ever fails me, I am going to gut it and rent it out as a parking garage.

First impressions are marvelous. Man, having the extra power really enhances sound quality at lower volumes. Though I have not fully implemented it into my system, I have had a chance to mess with the up-conversion. Without tweaks, the picture quality was awful. With the right tweaking, it shines. I will give a more detailed report once I have forklifted it into an iron and concrete reinforced audio rack. --Andy

Hey,
Any updates on your 7300?
I hate the unit I got from HK. It was remanufactured and thus you would figure perfection from the factory direct. NOPE!
Damaged front panel door, video flickers, no OSD, etc etc.
Sounds ok...but cannot adjust anything unless I do front panel.
They will replace it but only after the 11th...due to inventories.

I am seriously considering either dumping the 7300 and switching to the dpr 2005....

Any suggestions .. .anyone?

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes (no pun intended) Tarun. I got mine (avr230) from harman audio's ebay store and it arrived in pristine condition. No shipping damage that you know of? I don't know of anybody who runs a hk2005 so your'e guess is as good as mine. It might be worth a shot if you don't mind potentially paying shipping charges if you don't like it.

There is a gentleman on the avs forum that goes by the username of "M Code" that has a lot of firsthand experience with the digital path receiver. Might be worth looking into for some information. Or you could get a 635 and add a couple of mono amps from outlaw like bugbitten has done.

Edit: Here is a link to the DPR2005 review at avs.

Edit again: Tarun, what do you mean by no osd? Does the 7300 allow osd via component video? I thought that everything could be accessed thru the remote without having to mess with the front panels?

Sorry to hear about your problems with the refurb!

Your experience would be EXACTLY what I would be afraid of if I bought a refurb.

I was "burned" once with a Toshiba laptop, so, I should have "learned" a lesson.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the refurbed unit. Though it doesn't help YOU any, my 7300 arrived in perfect condition. I could not tell in any way that it was a refurb. It looks and performs gloriously.

The 7300 mates beautifully with my 60s. It has the exact sound I was looking for -- the sound I was missing with my 3802. I have had no disappointments with the receiver. To answer my original question, it rocks!

I'm also a HK630 owner and I 100% agree on the power of this thing. Mine is from the HK Ebay Refurb store and it was in perfect condition when I got it (about a year now).
