Good Morning Alan,
I watched your video on subwoofer placement using the "crawl" method and was
wondering when placing the woofer in the listening area which direction
should the woofer be facing before you start the crawl?
Thanks,
Andy

Good afternoon, Andy,
Actually, it doesn't matter because the bass frequencies that subwoofers
radiate are essentially non-directional below 100 Hz. The pressure waves
from the sub go in all directions. If your listening seat is against the
wall, I'd make sure that the woofer faces into the room, and that would
apply to any location for the subwoofer.
But the woofer doesn't have to "point" in a particular direction, nor does
it have to point toward you when you find the best location.
By the way, the directional cues for deep bass are supplied by the other
speakers in your system. They reproduce the harmonics of bass tones, which
are much higher in frequency. It is those harmonics that tell your ears what
direction the bass is coming from.
Kind regards,
Alan
