Hello friends

Well, I moved, and finally found my shoes. The new place is really something else. I want to make 2 HT systems, one in the bedroom (23 x 25) and my home office is 23 x 18. Here are the components:

Processors
Sony TA E9000ES
Integra DTC 9.4

Amps
Onkyo M504
3 x Yamaha M80
1 x Anthem PVA 5 (5 channel amp)
8 x Sonic Impact T Amps (10 watts per channel pure 15 max)

Speakers
Thiel CS 3.6
2 x Michaura M665s (very similar to Axiom M60s)
6 x Michaura M55s (very similar to Axiom M22s)
2 x Dahlquist DQM 905s
2 x Axiom QS8s
2 x Mission 77ds surrounds
2 x Axiom M2s
2 x modified Merak (Axiom made) MC6H center speakers

Subs
SVS 20-39
Velodyne CHT 10
Vance Dickerson Titanic 10"
Dahlquist PDQ 1500 (15")
Klipsch LF10 (1640 watts)

DVD Players
Philips SACD 1000
Toshiba SD9200 DVD-A.

If you have the time and inclination, please mix and match, let me know what systems you would put together with these components and what you would do with the left overs!

Hi 2x6,

Congratulations on the new place. Warmest wishes for many happy years there.

I'm very intrigued by your post. I don't think very many of us will have first-hand knowledge of most of your equipment, so don't know how helpful we can really be.

Where is the tube stuff? Separate two channel system in the living room or something?

Do I understand correctly that you want 5.1/6.1/7.1 in each room? How much time will you spend listening/viewing in each room? Is there a "primary" viewing room or one in which you will listen to a greater proportion of music? Got any floorplans? What's the deal with those Sonic amps? Of those subs, which ones are the most capable? Are you going to put a system in the garage with the leftovers?

I have to think about this a bit more, and am interested in what others think. My initial reaction is that I would like to hear multi-channel audio through a 6.1 system using only the M55's in one system.

If you run out of uses for the amps, give a holler

Thanks for sharing.

Wow...that's a big bedroom. Lucky dog.

Here's my first thought...much like Tom's. A killer 5.1 system for both movies and multi-channel music.

Integra DTC 9.4
Anthem PVA 5
Michura M55 mains
Michura M55 center
Michura M55 surrounds
SVS 20-39 subwoofer

Thanks Tom & Spiff

During the day, I'll be watching the news or listening to digital cable music or music from the server (slim device). During the evening, if working late, I'll be doing the same or watching an HD movie from cable, or a DVD movie.

For movie movie watching while not working, the bedroom system.

Yes, the 2 channel tubie is in the living room. The family room has 5 channels in the ceiling, don't know what I'll be doing about that.

BTW, the Integra processor is 7.2 and the Sony 5.2. Haven't decided if I'm going 5.2 for both or 7.2 with the Integra system.

I think the Onkyo Integra M504 puts out 175 watts per channel (x2) 165 watts per channel min. RMS, at 8 ohms, both channels driven, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with no more than .003% total harmonic distortion, intermod distortion .003% at rated power, frequency response 1 hz - 100 kHz, +0, - -1.5 dB. Input sensitivity 1 V, input impedance 20 kohms, damping factor 140 (8 ohms, 1 kHz), S/N ratio120 dB (IHFA, shorted))while the Yamaha M80s are rated at 250 watts per channel continuous, 380 RMS into 8 ohms Damping factor 250 1kHz/8ohms. I have 3 yammies, 1 Onk, both amps very nice.

Here's what I decided ...

Bedroom
Integra Processor
Toshiba DVD-A
Thiel CS 3.6 fronts
Axiom QS8 surrounds
SVS 20-39 sub
Vance Dickerson Titanic sub
I'm going to try 2 M22 like Michaura M55s as a center, if not then the Merak

Office

Sony TA E9000ES processor
Anthem PVA 5 (5 channel amp)
M60 like Michaura M665 fronts
M22 like Michaura M55s in side surround position
Dahlquist PDQ 1500 sub
Klipsch LF10 sub
Merak center

I'm going 5.2 for both systems. I might add 2 back surround speakers to the bedroom system - I used the Axiom M2s last time around - didn't think they did the job, think I'll try the Mission 77ds surround speakers this time.

Thanks for your thoughts. It'll take me at least a week to get to this project. I'll take some pix and report back down the road.

2x6, what are your thoughts on the Vance Dickason 10" Titanic sub? Been thinking of getting this DIY project for a two channel set-up. Don't need room shaking bass, just tight and articulate.
