Hi,
I would like some advice to properly set sound parameters on my amplifier (does not have these auto setup mode). I just got front M80, center V150, Sub EP500 and surround QS8s. My amp offers the following independant crossover and small-large setting for all speakers (40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150 et 200). What should I select?

Is the setup should be changed when I listen to stereo mode like changing front from small to large? My amp is able to auto switch large/small for specific decode type.

Thanks

SB, welcome. I assume that you mean that the amplifier allows you to set different crossover frequencies for different speaker groups, instead of one selected frequency applying to all speakers. Even if this is the case, my first suggestion would be that you nevertheless set all speakers to a uniform 80Hz crossover. THX and other studies indicate that 80Hz is a good compromise, being high enough to relieve the speakers and amplifier driving them from a significant part of the lowest bass burden, allowing the sub and its amp to handle what it does best, while not being so high as to make the sub easily localizable. You can of course experiment, and some would suggest that the M80s should be set lower, such as 60Hz.

All speakers should be set "small" for all modes, including stereo, so that again, the sub is always given the responsibility to handle what it does best(especially a sub as excellent as the EP500).

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

The way I have always looked at this is:

Setting to small enables bass management in your AVR.
Look to your mains. (As little lower freq is sent elsewhere). A rule for ported mains, cross at 24 Hz above their rating.
