Hello! Anyone familiar with the Rotel 02 series? I'm contemplating the RA-02 and RCD-02. I'm interested in the M40ti and wonder if this would be a reasonable match.
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm not familiar with those - although I have looked at them longingly.... they are incredible looking. 40wpc from the RA-02 should be plenty to drive a pair of M40's - of course that all depends on room size. I currently drive mine with an older 30wpc amp, but I recenly bought a nice vintage 40wpc integrated amp for a little extra oomph...
I would have bought the rotel, but I'm a cheapskate and just don't have the cash to blow on one of those right now, even though I think (again) - it looks just awesome. I read a couple reviews that had nothing but good things to say about the amp.... don't know about the CD - I didn't research that one....
They also make an RA-01 that is the same as the 02, but without the remote control for a little less... I personally don't like remote controls for my stereo (being just for music) since it usually takes me more time and effort to actually find the remote than just walk over to it and turn it down/up...
As for the M40's - I just love 'em, and I think I made the right choice, since I realy won't be able to afford a sub (or 2) anytime soon... they are not-quite-100%-full-range... but soooo close I don't think most people would ever realy notice, unless you listen to a lot of really bass-heavy music (think hip-hop or pipe organs)...

have you looked into the NAD320BEE???
It's one heck of a unit, and only 500$ CAD. 50 wpc integrated.
Take a good, long look at it. It's really an amazing unit. Better then the cambridge A500 and less expensive by 150$.

Rotel 02 has wons lots of praise in the British magazine sector for best budget integrated. Rotel is known for neutral and clear power. I listened to the RA 02 with B&W CM2 and the detail was amazing. For a smaller powered unit it has pre-outs and is bi-ampable. I would not go with the RCD 02 (although it matches the RA 02 nicely) I would opt for an older series high end Rotel CD player (which would be cheaper since older model) or go with a NAD 541 CD (I think thats the model) player(won many awards for budget high end sound). Rotel CD player today does not come close to some of Rotel older high end CD players.
I run the Rotel RSX-1065 myself.

Thanks all! Great help and I'll let you know how it all comes together after the new year (late Christmas present for myself!)
