Room size?

If you've got a small room and don't care about providing quality bass across multiple seats, then just get the SVS.

Personally, I'd get the two EP500's. But, I love spending other people's money. wink

I'd go with the pb-ultra13. It's a lot of sub for the money.
My PC13 ultra really complements my otherwise all Axiom speaker set up.

SVS has been making very good subs a long time. I've had two of their subs over about 12 years with no complaints.

on that same note, Power Sound Audio is definitely worth your time as well. Tom from SVS is making some killer subs for killer dollars.

That's the direction I'm going to go. I'm eyeing up the pre-order price on the triax! This subwoofer is going to be extremely hard to beat for the price

Even their XV15 is considered a brute...very comparable to an SVS PB13-Ultra(and that should be no surprise considering who's building it) and for only 799!

That being said, the Axiom subwoofers a really nice too.

I just can't in good conscience drop 2400 on an EP800 when I can get one of those Triax, pre order price anyhow, for 2700.

When it comes to speakers though, I will never be interested in another company though. The m80s are truly the best speaker I have ever owned. I'm looking forward to buying the QS8s and the vp160 in the near future. smile And their customer service is incredible. I'll be sticking with them on the speaker front for many, many years to come

Have you HEARD an EP800?

I had the good fortune some years ago to demo an EP600 and PB13-ultra in the same room, back to back (at a fellow forum member's home).

It was a very interesting and educational experience. Both companies have doubtless come a long way since then. The differences were very noticeable, and the member elected to keep the Axiom and send the SVS back. The other three of us were not surprised by his decision.

Point being, it's pretty easy to spout manufacturer hyperbole, and to just rely on measurements for subs. My listening experience has been that the DSP and low distortion of the Axiom subs is often overlooked.

Was your reply directed to me? If so, I apologize for responding.

No, unfortunately, I haven't got to hear an EP800. I'm sure it sounds incredible.

I agree. All the hyperbole and measurements aside, you can amass quite a few thousand of real world opinions and side by side comparisons of the most hottest/most talked about subwoofers, thanks to the internet.

Over years, I was able to sift through all the great amount of information, and bullshit lol, to finally decide that buying a pair of M80s would be a VERY rewarding experience at a VERY competitive price. After doing the same with subwoofers now, as happy as I'm sure I would be with an EP800, I just can't in good conscience pick it over all the offerings at similar or lower prices.

You have the seaton submersive HP plus...a 4000 watt monster with the option to drive a slave unit. To my door in canada would be about 2700.

You have the offerings of SVS.

You have HSU, rythmik.

And then you have Power Sound Audio. "Tom Vodhanel and Jim Farina are known as veterans of SV Sound, Tom actually having been a co-founder and the "V" in SVS, while Jim was involved with their R&D"

The reviews from users speak for themselves. The reviews from professionals as well.

But that being said, it's just purely my opinion based of my observations. I'm in no way saying that the axiom subs aren't badass. They surely are. I just don't think they hit a great price point for me.

This is all just based of OP's original post. If it was me, and I was considering 1 pb13 ultra, or 2 ep500s, I'd strongly consider 2 PSA XV15's for $1600.

And that being said as well. Before I pull the trigger on two XV15s, I'm going to just wait around to see what offerings Axiom has up it's sleeve for subwoofers. I know they are working on something and I have a feeling it will not dissapoint smile

So Tom, which is it you are suggesting? 2x500 or 1x800 or are you just spouting manufacturer hyperbole?

Hey, no making fun of hyperbole.
It's the hyper-infinite answer to all your worldly problems in one perfectly engineered, mega-sphere of boledom.

I've heard the EP500. It's a very good sub. Based on my experience in my home, I have a predisposition away from one monster sub of whatever brand.
