I have an unusually shaped room so would like to use the QS speakers for surrounds. All the advice I've seen suggests QS8s for "large" rooms and QS4s for smaller ones. My question: What's considered a large room?
The room I'm working with is four sides of a pentagon with a flat wall across the back. It's 12-ft. deep at the deepest part, where I have a counch against the wall. The monitor is opposite. Overall length of the room is 25 ft. I'll mount the QS's on walls angling inwards on either side of the couch in a 5.1 configuration. Also the ceiling is vaulted -- 25-ft. at the peak, down to 10 ft.
If you can even picture it from this description, is it large or small? QS 4s or QS 8s?

Welcome.
That's a big room.
I have the QS8's, and am perfectly satisfied with both music and movie material.

I agree, that is a large room. I would suggest that you go with the QS8s.

QS8s are very forgiving of placement. Just make sure you calibrate to your listening position.

I'm waiting for QS10s with 6" drivers. I can wait.
At my age however I'm not taking any chances.
I have reserved a small room for a very long time down at the mausoleum.
Until then.......

A good view is fine, but I'd leave the grilles on the speakers anyway, they won't even notice! At least I'd have them surrounding me in.....Hey, I know I've said that my Axioms were my "speakers for life" I just had no idea!
The whole idea of the "QS10" is a ficticious idea for a 6" drivered QS surround model to go with the rest of the 6" drivered speakers in my oddball system(M3s for surrounds; but I'd like to have QS type surrounds in back)And maybe a 6" drivered center too?
The WIZARD is cool but he dosen't recommend
QS10s or VP160s.
At least he didn't last time I checked........!
