what's the best book shelf speaker in the M lineup to use as rears in a setup that uses the m60ti as mains and the vp100 as center channel. Note the rear channels will be used for ht and dvd-audio use crossed over at 80hz.

Hello;

Without a doubt, the best speaker to use for your setup is the QS-8. This dedicated surround has received rave comments from users, and is Ian Colquhoun's personal choice for a surround.

If you wanted to use a bookshelf speaker instead of a surround, then I would recommend either the M2 or the M3, for best matching with the most natural sounding speaker on the market.
