I will be using them for just music.Classic rock.Nothing terribly loud.It's either the M3 or the Ascend 170.

I agree with Brandon. Jerry, here's a link to a review I did of the M3s versus a couple other speakers. I can tell you, the M3s will work very well for your purpose.
