More of The Wire. I'm liking the show a lot more as I watch it. I'm going to start that series soon. I heard an interview with a cop who commented that this series was much closer to reality than anything else ever produced: many shades of grey.

Just got done watching August Rush on bluray. My Girlfriend picked it out... I thought it was going to be awful (typically don't like her selection of movies), but it turned out to be a really good movie. The Dolby TrueHD Soundtrack was nothing short of amazing.
Metacritic gave it horrible reviews, but I suspect that is because the critics have no imagination. So what if the movie's plot is completely implausible? It is a MOVIE- not a true story- GEEZE!
I highly reccomend it to anyone who needs a break from action flicks and could use something with a meaningful plot (even if it is a little fairy-tale-ish). Also, it has a great musical soundtrack and killer natural surround effects at times (wind, cars, ect.) Good movie for kids and chicks too.

My wife and I enjoyed the movie, as well. It was easy for me to turn off my eye-rolling reflex and just enjoy the experience.

Quick, swallow before anyone notices! This wins the gold for our ever present "out of context" game!

Ghost Town
Not great, but decent. It's the first disc from Netflix I've watched. Now to watch an episode of One Piece before Letterman...

I watched the first disc of this tonight. I'm definitely hooked. Very cool idea and main characters. Thanks for the suggestion. My sister has read the manga and likes it a lot, I found out.
Missed this post earlier. Glad you liked it. I keep telling myself I should start reading the manga of these but I already have such a huge backlog to watch I may not catch up until I’m retired. Last night I watched the live-action Death Note movie. It doesn't hold a candle to the anime, unfortunately. The story in the anime is very well-written, developing at the perfect pace, milking the introduction of each new detail for maximum effect. The movie fumbles every opportunity. It was hard to watch. Uninspired direction, poor acting, and sub-par special effects didn't help.
Thanks for the heads up on the live-action movie. I’ve been meaning to order it but already have 100 things queued up that I want right now so I don’t think I’ll be bumping anything for it. I agree with you that the anime is very well written and planned out. Not your typical anime and like you I found it easy to get hooked on. I’m glad I revisited anime, cause I never liked it as a kid but now much of it is better than the garbage coming out of Hollywood or what’s on TV. I got disk 8 delivered on Saturday but haven’t had time to watch it yet. I may hold off until they complete the series so I can watch the rest back-to-back for better continuity and involvement.

Finished watching the “Scrapped Princes.” This is an excellent fantasy anime. 6 disks so not to long but enough to lay out the world and tell the whole story w/o rushing. Nice animation, great characters and English voice acting. Enough plot twists to keep you guessing and wanting to know what’s going to happen next.

I know I tried watching that once a long time ago, but I couldn't get into it then. It's one of my best friend's favorites, though, so I'll have to give it another shot.
