I used to have a 500 which was a great sub, I later upgraded to the 600. I also have 2 350's up front in the room, the 600 is in the back corner. I know in Alans initial review of the 350 it held its own against the 500 in many respects.
The 350 is a great power house. For a few months I had one of my 350's upstairs in our living room which is about 15x20 with slight vaulted ceilings, and open into our kitchen/dining area. One 350 did a very good job in that space. So, I suppose look at your budget and go from there...

Another vote for the 500 if you can afford it. It is the same size as the 350 but it digs deeper and plays louder. I know you have a smallish room but you would be surprised at how loud a sub needs to go to create some effects properly.

I should note shipping is not included everywhere. A plus with Axiom, along with great after sales service.

The factor of the mains being on-wall doesn't really create an even greater advantage, since any relative weakness of that design would be in the mid-bass around 70-80Hz, and any good sub covers that well. Thanks JohnK, that is really helpful! I guess I didn't think of it that way. The thing is, I already got a gift certificate which brings the EP500 right in my budget. Plus, the service/warranty/return policy with Axiom is next to none in my opinion. |

Also a vote for the EP500. Nothing is more satisfying than feeling Hulk Smash instead of just hearing it.
Also, out of curiosity I just checked the sonicboomaudio site. Absolutely nothing against SVS subs but there does not appear to be an avenue for cost savings at their advertised prices for equivalent models.

I think the best bang for the buck from SVS is the new PB12-nsd, new DSP amp, which keeps it flat and capable of reasonably high SPL. I think with shipping it works out to be a little less than the EP500.

One other thing I did was order my ep350 in a custom vinyl (cinnamon beech) and I'm glad I did.
