The remote for my Sherwood Newcastle R-772 frequently loses contact with the receiver (i.e., button presses do nothing). Momentarily removing a battery from the remote cures it, though sometimes I also have to power the cycle the receiver.
Sherwood verified the problem using my remote and their test receiver, so they sent me a new remote under warranty. Excellent! Except that the problem remains. So apparently it can't be either a bad remote or a bad receiver. I use the remote in RF mode, case that makes any difference. Any ideas? |

Well, my first inclination is to get a universal remote like a Harmony or URC.

I have an IR Harmony. The native RF remote capability of the Sherwood Newcastle is great for my in-cabinet setup. I know I could get an RF universal remote, but there's no need for the extra complexity--if I can just get the SN remote to behave.

Sorry, I totally missed the RF part. Is it possible that you got another defective remote?

Maybe, though it seems a bit unlikely. I'll be asking Sherwood. Thought someone here might have experienced this since Axiom sold these receivers for a while.
