M22's and surrounds?

After reviewing a lot of the helpful insight on this board , I am planning on getting M22's for mains, VP100 center very soon and have a couple of questions about stands and surrounds. This will be for family room--- 50/50 music/HT.
Room is 19X17, 10 ft ceilings, partial opening into kitchen and I prewired for surrounds before I checked
into HT. The way I have it set up is that one rear will be on sidewall and other on back wall facing entertainment center. I would probably wire it different now but at the time(new construction) it seemed like a good idea to get some wires up before drywall was put up.
So....Would QS4's be OK or should I get M2 or M3's and mount so they face into listening area?
How stable are stands offered? Do the M22's sit on stand or attached somehow? I've been blessed with 4 kids 5-15 that like to get the tunes cranking just like Dad and really do not want to see new speakers hitting the floor because of errant air guitar moves. Thought about floor models too but I have a price point I need to stay at.
Thanks

repeddler,
If I were you I would get QS4's, they're better for movies. You'll have to fiddle with the placement once you get them to see where they sound best. All rooms sound different.
I use Atlantis SBF20 stands for my M22's, however I hear the Axiom stands for them are just as good. They're solid, but maybe not so solid is something walks into it. Then again, not many stands are...
Try wall mounting the QS4's so you don't have stands that can be knocked over, and so you can elevate them about 8 feet up from the floor.
good luck!

Hello repeddler,
Using the asymmetrical placement scheme for your surrounds, you should definitely get the quadpolar-radiating QS4s. They'll generate a sense of envelopment in the soundfield with greater ease and less "fussiness" in positioning than direct radiators like the M2s or M3s.
I presume you're using a subwoofer with the M22ti's? You have a fairly big room, and while the M22's have reasonable bass output to 50 Hz or a bit lower, they do need the bass reiniforcement for the bottom octave that a subwoofer will deliver.

Yes , Alan I am going to get a sub also. Not sure which brand/model as of yet. Running out of dough cause I need to pick up amp and DVD also.
Is the sub used when playing music or only in HT?
Thanks

Hi,
Oh, absolutely, you'll want to use the sub playing music with the M22ti's as well as with home theater. While the M22's bass is quite good to 50 Hz and below, and they'll play cleanly with clarity at loud levels, in a room the size of yours, the sub will add the bottom octave of deep bass and relieve the woofers in the M22ti of deep bass duties. This will leave them free to do a gorgeous job on the upper bass and midrange (upper bass meaning from 80 Hz up to 800 Hz), where they excel.
