Depends a bit on how loudly you like to play music. I don't know exactly why the floorstanders sound more "open" and "large" but there does seem to be a difference. In a 13x23 room I was surprised by how much of a difference I heard between M2 and M60... and how hard it was to explain what the difference sounded like

Having said that, at "reasonable" volumes with a good sub I would not expect a big difference between M22s and M60s.
