My opinion is too many people overdo it and buy floorstanders to put in a smallish room where they will never be able to get placement right (this is primarily from a music listening point of view, perhaps it's different with home theater and bigger is better).

I find the M22s (or other monitors) with a sub to be the best combination in rooms of normal size. I'm also finding that using speaker inputs on Axiom's sub works much better than the RCA input. Monitors and a sub give the best combination of soundstage/depth and allow for the speakers to disappear in my opinion. I like to turn it up as much as the next guy and when I do, it's enough loudness and presence for me. To wit, I don't believe I've ever listened to VH's Eruption with the volume lower than 11.

I believe could never get my M60s placed correctly in my room and hence the reason I am trying to get rid of them. You live, you learn.
