on my SVS 20-39 PC+, i keep the volume at about 30% for movies, and then kick it up to about 40% for music.

it also depends a lot on which 'mode' i am in.. on my Onkyo 701, the 'all channel' mode tends to put more kick in the bass, while the phantom DTS and pro logic modes tend to not have as much kick..

i guess it depends on my mood most of the time..
