Frank, if the volume is okay using the TV speakers with its internal amplifier, then the problem would indeed seem to be with the HK. Can't even guess what it might be or how much the repair would run, but if you want to instead replace it, the Onkyo 605 would be a fine choice. Probably the best deal right now would be at
