i also used setup 101, without # 7-8 a few months ago, as i'm the only one in the house.

this gave me the best sound i've ever had and, as you say, image clarity and instrument placement in the soundstage was much better than before.
the main effect was center stage clarity, but i think the whole imaging was improved.

if you take care about positioning the mic, you should get excellent results.
