I guess I just desperately want somebody to give me faith enough to buy something besides a Honda or Toyota.

Tom, I feel exactly the same way. My wife and I have owned 5 new Honda's within the past 10 years, and I couldn't imagine switching to domestic. There are no sedans or vans from the big 3 that even remotely interest me. If Ford imported
this car, I would probably jump ship. They would have a true contender, just as long as they didn't water down the suspension, styling, or horsepower.
As a side note, every Honda I've owned was either built in Ohio or Ontario. Further, I believe they had enough North American content to be classified as a "domestic".
