AxiomAir Software Update

In order to update your AxiomAir software from Version 1 (eg. v1.097) to Version 2 (eg. v2.12.4) you will need to replace or re-flash your SD card.  Shown below are the steps for replacing your SD card from an AxiomAir upgrade kit or re-flashing your existing SD card.  If you need any assistance or have any questions please contact us at 1-888-352-9466 or by e-mail.

Installation instructions for replacing your SD card from an AxiomAir upgrade kit:

1. Before you begin, check that you have everything you will need. Your package from Axiom should contain an SD card and a black Bluetooth adaptor. If you had an early unit with a black WiFi adaptor you will also have received a new white WiFi adaptor. You will also require an Ethernet cable to connect your AxiomAir to your router or modem.
2. To install the new SD card you will require a 4mm Hex bit or Allen key.
3. Turn off your AxiomAir by pressing the white power button and wait until all the LEDs have turned off.
4. Unplug the power supply from your AxiomAir.
5. Remove all USB adaptors and thumb drives.
6. Turn over your AxiomAir and locate the central access door with 4 screws.
7. Remove the four screws.
8. Gently lift up the access door and locate a small green circuit board. You will see the installed SD card on the edge of this board. If you were sent a white WiFi adaptor your version will require you to press the edge of the SD card. It is spring-loaded and will click and pop out slightly and can then be removed. All other versions will allow you to simply pull out the SD card. Install the replacement and push down gently until it is seated, or you feel a click.
9. Reinstall the four screws that hold the access door.
10. Install the supplied Bluetooth adaptor and the white WiFi adaptor if you received one in your kit or if you already had one. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or modem to your AxiomAir.
11. Reconnect the power supply.
12. Turn on the power to your AxiomAir and leave it for at least 10 minutes. It may reboot several times automatically.
13. Open the AxiomAir App and tap the gear icon in the upper right corner and then tap on Network. About halfway down the page you will see your home network listed (if you see both a 5G network and a regular one with the same name, choose the regular one), then tap the connect icon beside your network. You will be prompted to enter your home network password, after it is entered tap the connect icon beside your password.
14. Shut down your AxiomAir by pressing the white power button or tap the gear icon in the AxiomAir App, tap Shutdown, and tap Power Off.
15. Unplug the Ethernet cable.
16. Press the white power button to turn your AxiomAir back on and you will now be running the latest software version.
17. Navigate to www.axiomaudio.com/axiomair-features in your web browser to check out a series of short videos outlining all the new features available on your AxiomAir!

Instructions for re-flashing your existing SD card:

1. Download the card flash software to your computer here: etcher.io
2. Download and extract this zip file to your computer.
3. Shut down your AxiomAir
4. Remove all dongles from the USB ports
5. Remove the large bottom door from your AxiomAir
6. Remove the SD Card from the Micro Computer mounted to this door
7. Plug the SD card into your computer
8. In Etcher select the download above where it says Select Image
9. In Etcher select the drive with the SD card in it for Select Drive (it is likely Etcher will find it for you)
10. In Etcher hit Flash
11. After it is downloaded reinstall the SD Card in your AxiomAir and put the door back on
12. Plug an Ethernet cable into your AxiomAir
13. Turn on your AxiomAir
14. You will get a loud “Quality Control Passed” (v2 products only) followed by the xylophone
15. Wait for 30 seconds after the xylophone
16. Open the AxiomAir App or webpage, and tap the gear in the upper right, then tap System, and verify you are on Version 2.12.3
17. Tap the gear again and then Network. About half way down the page you will see your home network listed (if you see both a 5g and a regular one, choose the regular one), then tap the connect icon beside your network.  You will be prompted to enter your home network password, after it is entered hit the connect icon beside your password
18. Shut down your AxiomAir
19. Unplug the Ethernet cable
20. Turn your AxiomAir back on
21. Verify the AxiomAir UI resolves. If not shut down your AxiomAir plug in the WiFi dongle and turn it back on.  Note: if you do need to plug your WiFi dongle back in verify it is the white one, if not please contact us so we can send you a white one.
22. If you would like to use Bluetooth, plug in a 4.0 Linux compatible Bluetooth Dongle to any of the USB ports.
