Anyone know what these are and where they came from?

Those crossovers are pretty easy to replicate but im sure Axiom can hook ya up with some new ones.

Spoke to them and apparently they no longer carry the version 2 crossovers but have the components to repair it so all should be ok. The parts for the old units are getting tough to come by. I was able to get a mid-range but had to use the newer version of the woofer....works fine but has the white dust cap so looks a bit odd.

When i bought my M80s they showed as having V2 drivers but showed up with V3. Axiom sent me new drivers and i kept the old ones. Bonus :0 I built myself a pair of 3 ways for my bedroom and a big center channel for my theater with them. I made a device to cover the cone and painted the dust caps black , look just like v2's. I used a qtip for clean up around the edges with a little thinner.
Maybe ask for some newer crossovers. I have bought a few driver over the years with no problem.

Funny you mention painting the caps as I was actually considering painting the white caps or maybe try to glue the black one from the old woof over it. Nice bonus for you to get the extra set of drivers.

i used flat black engine paint from work, looks great to me. i used something round and taped from its edge to the speaker edge with painter tape and just dusted it a few times. Was a bit of a pain but worth it.I tried so many things from around the house to see what would fit over the cap i dont know what i ended up using lol

LFRs are a big ticket item and Axiom may give you some consideration for the M80s. It doesn't hurt to ask if you haven't already.

Stopped into Axiom today. Had a great chat with Ian and Debbie. Great folks....very down to earth.Found out what the metal strips in my M80 were and it isn't what we thought. They are the core from one of the crossover coils. Got to see the infamous Axiom listening room and got to drool over some LFR 1100s. He also made me a very tempting offer on trade up. Now I have to sell a bunch of speakers so I can afford it. I will be listing them asap!!!

I'm starting to think my 80s might be version one. That doesn't look like the crossover in mine. They are two tiered with coils on both boards. Also the crossover is mounted on the speaker terminal plate and slides out when the plate is removed. Ian did comment that it was unusual that they didnt have a plate with version and serial number on the back. Maybe they were prototypes since I did get them from an employee of Axiom.
