Charles, yes a processor such as the 990 plus an amplifier such as the 7125 would serve the same purpose as the processor and amplifier in your 2105. Your 2105 has a full set of 7 outputs from its processor section which could be connected with cables to a separate amplifier, continuing to use the processor section of the 2105. The advantage would be more maximum power capacity, but unless your listening room is huge and very high sound levels are used, your 2105 already has more than enough power. Buying more power, which would be unused, wouldn't be cost-effective.
