If your not having problems with your player, for ex. skipping, then I would not worry about it much. I did however pick up a discwasher cd/dvd cleaner that has the brushes from Walmart for an old Toshiba DVD player I had, it did seem to improve the skipping problem I was having... As far as I know it will not hurt the laser lens, it will however brush off any dust that has collected.
