The 70's were a time when many manufacturers started to put more powerful amps into integrated receivers. My first receiver circa 1970 had 20w per side. Sansui started to put bigger amps into their receivers around 1974 which was when the 9090db started production. At the time it was regarded as one of the most powerful well built consumer receivers. The quality went to hell in the 80's when they outsourced production and cheapened on parts, all of which led to the company's demise.
