But for simplicities sake, you can order 2 wall plates for keystone entries for $1.00 each:

I guess that's what I'm getting at. I would go from the receiver to the first wall plate, cut the cable and put an RCA connector on it and connect it to the wall plate.
Next, go into the wall and connect more cable to the backside of the first wall plate and run that up and over my ceiling and down the rear wall. There, I would connect to the back of that wall plate in the wall.
Finally, connect with an RCA connector from the sub to the second wall plate.
Voila!, enjoy the fruits of my labor!
I guess the word splice probably was not the correct term for what I was thinking.
