I have 80s is a smaller room than you have planned ( 12 X 16 X 8 ). I think I’m at the minimum room size (dimensionally) for the 80’s. Considering that a person will most likely want to sit down somewhere, and preferably on a couch, chair or recliner, plus you can’t just shove 80’s into a corner. Considering those things, you will end up being about 10’ away from the drivers with a room depth of 16’. I don’t think you’d want to be any closer than that. I can’t comment on the 2700. Some folks claim to drive 80’s with a lot less. I don’t like to make those claims without actually hearing it and knowing what the receiver will or will not do. The 2700 does have some very trick options and features though. I had seriously considering buying one and using it for a pre/pro.
