And let's face it the subs in the cars are playing music designed to go THUMP THUMP THUMP. The music source is also usually set up to push bass notes.

I haven't found the bass in the M80s overpowering at all, even when the music I play has been produced bass heavy, the M80s play it all very well and seemlessly.
