Comics like George Carlin and Lewis Black use the same words, but in the context of making a point about society. In Carlins case, yes, he used the words to shock people. But he did it to point out how absurd it is that we have just decided that these 7 words are to be 'dirty'.......Carlin, Black, and others make it a point to show us how silly and absurd our society can be, and I enjoy that brand of comedy very much.

Couldn't agree more, Peter. The comedy that makes me laugh, has to have a genuine element of wit. Not every one of Carlin's jokes hit the mark, but the vast majority of them did. And, when they did, as already mentioned, it was both hilarious and a profound relief to find someone who could humorously verbalize what I, myself, was feeling.

I can't watch Wil Farrell, and many of the others mentioned here. I liked Adam Sandler in Spanglish, but haven't been able to tolerate him in much else.
