I think you're missing a 1080p in there. ;\)

I do not have a BR player, but it is my understanding that the only difference in terms of video between component cables and HDMI is that HDMI can do 1080p. Component can transmit signals of 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. HDMI can do 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Obviously for the full BR experience you'll want that 1080p signal.

Oh yeah, congrats on the BR player! I'm hoping that Santa will leave one under the tree for me too this year. \:\) I've been good....mostly.
