Cam - what about a PS3? Blu-Ray functionality and much more... load times are a non-issue with the PS3 as well. My dad ended up getting the PS3 and really likes it in his setup. He uses it occasionally to stream pictures of the grandkids to his TV as well, which he seems to enjoy.

This might be 'over the top' depending on how tech savvy he is, but if it's something he would use, it's hard to beat the PS3. (unless he needs 7.1 analog outs)
