you are right on the money man, I am planning on getting an M22 setup with two EP400's, one for each channel. I believe that monitor equipment is WAY overpriced, and the response curves are not near as flat as the M22. Combine that with the EP400, which is quite frankly a very musical sub, and you get get a killer mixing and monitor setup (even with just one EP400, two is overkill, but whatever!)
