I'd like to see stands that match your good-looking speakers! Specifically, I love the original cherry speakers and don't like the way they look with metallic-looking stands. So—how about stands in Boston Cherry? I'd buy them in a heartbeat, even if they cost somewhat more than the competition.
Another suggestion: design them to minimize the effort required for cleaning around them (e.g. avoid little dust-collecting spaces). That way, there's more time to enjoy the music!
Finally, I agree with the other suggestions to make them as stable as possible. Dogs and kids are dangerous to speakers on stands! Maybe make them fillable, and maybe include a little of one of those special materials that removably "glues" the speakers to the stands.
If you follow all my suggestions, you'll have stands that serve their intended purpose perfectly and do so with style and ease of maintenance. What more could one want (in speaker stands, anyway)?
