I don't know about 'glue' for the stands but i know what he's getting at.

Perhaps something like a rubber type foam that gives you a friction 'stickyness' kind of like when you sit your bare butt onto a vinyl chair and try to twist resulting in nothing but pain accompanied by an ear piercing squeak noise.
