For it to be entertaining and engaging you have to CARE if any of the characters are in danger. That's why Jaws worked, and Jurasic Park didn't. In Jaws you feared the shark. In Jurasic Park, you cheered for the T-Rex. Yawn.
2.5 hours of explosions and I was nodding off. An explosion just for the sake of an explosion is not exciting.
Agreed. The true art in movie making is making you care about said explosion.
Too many times I find myself watching some movies, and despite all the flashy action, I'm bored.
