I've got 3 QS8's (in a 6.1 configuration) mounted about 6" below the ceiling, and they sound great.

I used ceiling mounted brackets found here. These brackets mount directly into the threaded hole that is already located on the back of the QS8, so there's no need to drill any holes. These brackets come in black or white.
