Too busy raking in the cash to actually care about their customers.

Sony should have long ago had an outside consultant review the security of their network. And continued to have these reviews performed.

Also not treating their paying customers like criminals would help keep the animosity down. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning the action of the person who broke in, or blaming the victim, but sometimes when you push, people knife you back.
