I use these in my bedroom. They fit well on my dresser and would look nice attached to a wall or on the mantle. Their sound is pretty neutral and sounds similar to my Axioms. Not much bass so I supplement it with a small sub.

M3s would be great without a sub, m22s if you expect to add a sub eventually.
Or, for a very simple installation, I actually like the Boston TV soundbars. This one is stereo only, has a built in amp, and a wireless sub. It's a good way to get decent sound without any fuss. They won't match the clarity of a M22, but it'll add a lot to your experience over TV speakers.
