Hi Myles
The question being, why the EP175 is my favorite sub. To start with, the size is absolutely perfect for a sub woofer in a home theatre environment. A small package with solid thunder bass. The amplifier has power to handle most average to large size living room’s or theatre rooms The 10” aluminum woofer with its cast basket is bullet proof, and has proven that for the past 12 or more years. The bass is solid even at high volume, and comfortable to listen to. I like it so much I have four of them in my theatre room. Some may say it’s an over kill, but the effect is awesome! I have them situated one front, two center and one rear under the raised floor that accommodates my theatre seats. It fill’s the room with natural bass without having to drive the woofers hard, keeping the amplifiers low volume and running cool. To sum it up I guess I like smaller sub woofers and would rather double up to fill the room easily, than a large bulky sub woofer working hard, to fill the room
