While it's certainly not the majority of discs out there, I find many good movies are encoded in discrete 7.1. E.g. Transformers3, Sound of Music on BRD (yeah, I'll take flak for that!), Pan's Labyrinth, Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Hugo, Super 8 and some awesome concert discs as well (Chris Botti in Boston as an example).

It may not have taken off, but I sure am hopeful that it is not going to die either.
