Spence, another thing to keep in mind is that the "width" speakers don't necessarily have to be placed along the back wall. The main object is to have the sound coming from a significantly wider(but still frontal)angle than the mains. This can be accomplished by positioning them along the side walls maybe 5' or so forward of the mains and angled sharply inward toward the listening position.
