John, that's exactly what I was thinking as well. With 1/2" drywall screwed into 1/2" thick firring strips, that leaves a 1" gap between where the mounting brackets need to get hung and the concrete block...where I'd like to lag the mounts into. Normally I would have not paid much attention to such advice but the person is extremely knowledgable in building construction and upon questioning him a time or two he swore it would work just fine.
After reading through the instruction manual with the bracket it doesn't get into anything other than mounting the bracket onto at least one stud behind the drywall, which in my case there is no studs.
In theory, if I did use 6 of the EZ Anchors that have the holding capacity of 90# ea on drywall....I'm asking myself why wouldn't it work? I know, it *just* don't seem right, though!
