I use small on all speakers, with a crossover of 80hz. What receiver do you have, you can actually set the crossover of each speaker? I know HK's can do that....

I have mine set to large.

One of these days I'm going to change it and see if I can really hear a difference.

I have all mine set to large and the crossover to 60hz.

Then again I swear by M50s and M3s and use an open AMC Jeep as a daily driver.

Small and here is why. . .

VP150 Freq Resp +/-3db (Hz): 85 - 22 kHz

AKA it should be crossed over at about 80hz which means small. It is not a big bass producer. But it is nearly perfect for what it is supposed to do. Produce clean, clear and audible mid to highs.

Funny enough, I was experimenting on small vs large last night with some friends. Our test showed lots of improvements in Small setting with all bass to sub.

In my setup, when the M80 handled all the bass, it became unclear. At Small settings with the SVS handling all below 80Hz, the bass was much improved.

This confirmed what I read in many places about setting the speakers to small and leaving all the bass to the sub.

So, Small all they way, for all speakers.

Totally agree Nat, to me there is no reason to run speakers on the large setting if they can't produce the lows. Besides, even at everything set to small, and a crossover of 80hz, my 60's still produce fabulous bass. Just because you set your crossover to 80hz, does not mean it just cuts off at 80hz, there is a slope or transition.

bugbitten, if your mains are large, are you using LFE or LFE+Sub?
